In 2010, those of us working in and around digital projects noticed a disterbing trend at conferences.  People were begging for practical advice on the nitty gritty of digitization, and not getting it.  We looked into the books available and found that most books either focused way too broad (talking about Digital Libraries in general) or far too narrow (listing technical requriements for images).  What we didn’t find was an overal introduciton and guide to digitization that would handle different levels of interest and experiance.  There are some basic priciples that would make everyone’s scanning just a bit better, and that’s what we want.

We started writing this book.  We plan to make it available for free in May 2012.
